Sewing by hand and by machine

Hi readers today I am writing about sewing. Hand sewing can be useful if you are working with delicate fabrics or making a small repair. You can hand sew if you don't have access to the machine. Hand sewing is also used for couture garments. There are different techniques that are used for hand sewing, for example whip stitch, herringbone stitch, or invisible slip stitch. When using a sewing machine you need to be careful and have the right measurements. Patience is very important in fashion and sewing, because if you don't take your time and fly through the garment you can have the wrong measurements and it will look odd. Also it is important to used your time wisely. Meaning show up on time and keep working till the end. I think that time and patience are very valuable in fashion and in making a garment.

Listening skills

Hi readers today I am writing about listening skills. Listening is the ability to accurately receive and interpret messages in communication. Without the ability to listen messages are easily misunderstood. If you can't master communication skill, you should aim to master listening skill. Listening is very important in life, and can help you to become successful. There are many positive outcomes of listening, you can have friends, it improves your self-esteem and confidence, as well as higher grades at school. Listening is not the same as hearing. When you listen you have to actually pay attention, where as hearing is just the sound. Attention is the most important thing we as people can give each other. There are ten principals of listening, 1) stop talking, 2) prepare yourself to listen, 3) put the speaker at ease, 4) remove distractions, 5) empathize, 6) be patient, 7)try to be impractical, 7)listen to the tone, 8)listen for ideas and not just words, 9)look for non verbal communication.

London Fashion Show

Hi readers today I am writing about London's fashion show. London is one of the most craziest, but also thoughtful places. Its the most creative, the most diverse, the most exiting. The fashion week has been an incredible success. Many designers get to present their vision and their thoughts, which is a privilege. Fashion captures people's visions and ideas. Many people get inspired from London fashion weeks. In every show you never know what you're gonna get. The community is positive. This is where designers experiment. many people say its the best one yet.
I noticed there are a lot of patterns in the garments. Floral patterns are mostly used. There are also gentle colors, like light blues and pinks. Every single design was unique and gorgeous in their own way.

Community servise

Hi readers, today I am writing about community service. I think that community service is important. It practices multiple skills, including collaboration, communication, critical thinking and creativity. My class had an opportunity to go on a field trip to set up a quilt show as a community service. Unfortunately I wasn't able to attend, I was disappointed. Even though I've never done fashion related community service, I've done other things. I do community service every week by helping out with little kids at the church I go to. I've done many other community service that taught me a lot. It is important to do community service because you help other people and learn things like leadership, communication, creativity and many other important skills. Community service also give you an opportunity to develop and practice those skills.

Not just clothes

In my opinion when it come to fashion I don't just think of clothes. I think of hair accessories and makeup. I think that in order to complete you're look you need right accessories right hair and makeup. All of the trends change over time. One day we want a natural look one day we want to shine. It all depends on what kind of person you are. If you are shy you would wear jeans and a t shirt and natural makeup. If you are confident you might wear something that shows off your figure and dramatic hair style. Fashion is not just clothes, it's hair and beauty. Fashion is art.

Hippies (denim, long hair, flower power).
Teddy Boys (drape jackets, crepe shoes).
Punk (ripped clothing, t-shirt slogans).
Hip hop (baggy clothes, Nike).
Hipster (glasses, jeans, beanies, sneakers, ties).
Urban (colorful apparel, jewelry, skinny jeans, jackets, T-shirts).
Feminine (dresses, hats, sunglasses, hand bags, floral prints).

Hogwarts' haute couture: The greatest Ofashion moments of the Harry Potter films.

That is all, thank you for reading, bye!

Hello readers, today I write about fashion in the Harry Potter films. Hogwarts had produced some special styles in the film. The costumes are unique, beautiful, and interesting. Hermione's Yule Ball dress was the most ionic, it was designed by Jany Temime. Luna's Christmas party garment was an avant garde look. In Beauxbatons Academy school uniforms were glamorous. The blue silk dresses with matching caplets, shoes and hat was designed by Jany Temime. It looks like something that would be seen on the streets of Paris. All of the costumes were wonderful and unique. Although most people don't pay attention to the fashion in movies like that, those pieces are pretty special.

Emmys fashion

Hi readers, today I am discussing fashion at the Emmys. Emmys is one of the biggest TV awards. All celebrities looked unique in their own way. This is where they want to look their best, because the whole world sees them. Looking at the garments they all consist of different colors like red, yellow, green, black, blue or white. Some dresses are simple and others have designs. Some are strapless and some have straps. Some show skin and some don't. One dress really caught my eye was the dress that Kristen Bell wore, it was by Zuhair Murad. The dress is very beautiful. It has nice tone, gentle colors and it looks comfortable. There are also some that I did not like, they were just not my style.

Why have T-Shirts been popular styles with teens for a very long time? Do you think this will change anytime soon?

Hi readers, today I am writing about T-shirts. In 1913 a crew-necked, short-sleeved, white cotton undershirt was popular. Because of it's shape it was called a "T". The T-shirt gained more popularity in the 1950's. Walt Disney was one of the first people who began having letters and designs on the shirts. In 1960's tie-dyeing was popular among the hipsters and it was easy to make. Now T-shirts come in many different shapes colors and designs. People also layer them with other clothes. I think that T-shirts are popular with teens because they are comfortable and at the same time cute so teens want to wear something like that. Even thought T-shirts come in different forms and styles they are a classic. Therefore people will still be wearing them no matter how old we are.

What is avant-garde fashion? Why do you think many celebrities dress in avant-garde fashions" What celebrity behaviors support your thinking?

Hello readers.
Today we are learning about avant-garde. For some it is a review and for others it is a new word and meaning. This style first appeared in the architecture industry. As a fashion style it was born in the 20's in Japan. It is characterized by straight geometric or shapeless silhouettes. It is interesting because it gives space for creativity.  I think that creative people dress ordinary and in an interesting manner. In the style the expression patterns are achieved not by color, but by lines, shapes, cutting. The style also uses many different materials like cardboard and fabrics. This style is designed for bright and creative people who want to stand out from the crowd. I think that some celebrities might wear something like this to standout and maybe to get attention. We think that they already get enough attention but no they want more. It could also be because that's their personality and they want to express them selves. Lady Gaga sets a perfect example of this style.

Fashion repeats

Hi readers, today I am writing about how fashion repeats. Some fashion trends from the 80's are alive today in 2016, but slightly different. In the 80's it was popular to have "male ponytails" and now it is popular to have a "man bun" which is pretty much the same thing. Bolder and brighter than the average hair tie, scrunchies took on a whole new level, although they aren't as popular now as they were then they are still worn by many either in hair or even wrist as accessories. Spandex was also popular in the 80's and now we see every female volleyball payer wearing them every time they play. When miniskirts came into fashion, parents were concerned about their daughters wearing something like that. But now super short shorts are popular, a lot of girls wear them and parents let their kids walk out like that in public, then parents would flip out. Not all parents are like that, some are stricter about what their children wear in public maybe because they don't want to be embarrassed. Another example is ripped jeans, these days there are so many kinds of ripped jeans, different colors different shapes. Then at some point in the 80's, women stopped wearing pants and substituted them with leggings. So many women wear leggings either for workout or as a casual outfit. Every woman own at the very least a pair of some kind of leggings, so I think that out of the things I mentioned leggings is the most popular.                                                                                                                         Well that is it for today thank you for reading bye.

How do you feel about what you read? Do you think there is room for different types of models on the runway? Why or why not? Do you think the runway at NYFW is a good place to bring awareness to global issues? Why or why not?

Hello readers, the article that I read is called "India acid attack survivor redefines beauty at NY Fashion Week" by Patricia Reaney. When I was reading the article I had two thoughts. my first thought was that there is evil in the world. My second thought was that there is hope and there are kind and caring people on thing planet, so it's kind of like a battle between two. Every model in the world is beautiful in their own way. I think that there is room for different kind of models, big, skinny, black, white and disabled, because no model is perfect. But every person is unique and we need to emphasize that. The runway at NYFW is a great place to bring awareness to global issues because for example when I see it I get inspired. And to see something different like awareness is more inspiring to change the world into a better place. I love the article because it shows that people care.

What is a fashion classic?

Hi readers, today I am discussing what "classic" means. Classic is a style that stays in fashion for a long time . Jeans are one of many examples of "classic". Now of course jeans are not the same as they were fifty years ago, but they are still jeans. Today jeans might have different designs and purpose. Years ago jeans were used only for working in farms and mostly males wore them. But now everyone wears then just different styles. Jeans can be different color, texture, they could be ripped and have variety of designs, for example floral designs or have pockets in  different spots.  Another example of a classic is "Little Black Dress" which was created in 1920's by Coco Chanel. This dress still exist today, we can find it anywhere and wear it for any occasion. It is simple and elegant, we can wear it with accessories or just at is it.

Trends

Hello readers,
today I am writing about trends. A trend is popular clothing or things at a certain point. I think that celebrities influence trends. For example we might see some famous actress/actor wearing something that we like and looks good, it might influence how we dress the next day. For example celebrities start a new trend like wearing a bra over a shirt, and other people might like it and do the same thing to fit in. I think that fashion trends are more likely to start in a big city rather than a village. Well it's because there are more people in cities and they are more likely try to blend in with the crown because if they don't they feel judged and alone. For example Kylie Jenner has posted multiple images of her with our makeup, this could start a trend, where people don't wear makeup and post a picture on social media. Today it is trendy to wear flannels, have short hair and lots of makeup. Tomorrow who knows what the trend is going to be.

What "Needs" do you think Haute Couture satisfies?

Hi readers, today I am discussing some needs that Haute Couture satisfies.
In French Haute Couture means high fashion. It is not cheap, it costs anywhere between 10,000-100000 dollars. There are only 11 haute couture houses left in the world, and the show collections are only twice a year.
Haute Couture meets many needs. It meets love and acceptance needs, because some people might want to receive affection from others. Some pieces meet the need of modesty, like the dress could be long and not showing too much skin. Sometimes it can also meet the need of conformity because we often want to belong to a group and feel accepted and clothing can express that. It meets the need of attraction because we might want to attract someone we are interested in. It meets the need of esteem because people feel good about them selves when they dress nicely and expensive, which also falls in the need of self-adornment and identification.
                                                                                                           Thanks for reading, bye.

In your opinion, is Haute Couture a dying art? Why or why not?

Hello readers.
So here are my thoughts if Haute Couture is dying or not. I think that this is am incredible process of making a dress. It takes a lot of effort, time and dedication to make only one creation. I think that most of us can agree that we don't have too much time because we have busy lives and responsibilities, like work or school that we need to take care of. With that said, in my opinion Haute Couture is dying. It's dying because of time that we don't have. Also it costs thousands of dollars, and some people would rather spent that money on a car, house, college or even groceries. Even though the dresses are gorgeous and unique they are extremely expensive, so therefore not very many people buy it. About 2000 people in the world buy them and only 200 are regular customers. All I have to say is "wow", those are pretty small numbers comparing to the whole planet. Unfortunately there aren't many designers left, many have past away and others are too busy for that type of commitment. Hopefully some people get inspired and go into the Haute Couture business.

Which couturier are you going to feature in your paper? Why did you choose this person to learn more about?

Hi readers.
It took me a while to decide which designer to choose to write about. All of the couture designers are unique. They put an incredible amount of effort into their pieces.
I chose to write about Charles James, England born designer. Known as " America's First Counturier". He first became famous in 1932 for the culottes he designed. Later he created beautiful ball gowns with lavish fabrics. He is also famous for his capes and coats often trimmed in fur.
That is all for today! thanks for reading bye.
